Help, from the person who built it.

Every email goes to Berty — the same person who designs the hardware, writes the firmware and ships the box. No call centre, no support ticket bouncing between three time zones.

Frequently asked

The questions that come up most.

Ordering & pre-orders
When will my pre-order ship?

Opening-batch pre-orders ship in waves as boards come off the line. You'll get an estimated despatch window by email within a few days of ordering — typically 2 to 6 weeks, depending on batch position.

If the window slips by more than 14 days, we'll email you and you can cancel for a full refund. See Terms § 6.

When do I get charged?

Your card is charged at the point of order, not on despatch. That's how we confirm your slot in the 100-unit opening batch.

Cancel any time before despatch and you get a full refund within 5 business days, no questions asked.

Do you ship internationally?

Yes — worldwide from day one. Import duties, VAT and customs fees in the destination country are the buyer's responsibility. Delivery times vary by country.

For warranty returns from outside the UK, the SAE mechanic in Terms § 8 can be impractical — email us and we'll agree a return method case by case.

Can I change or cancel my order?

Before despatch: yes. Reply to any order email with your change request — address, quantity, or full cancellation — and we'll sort it.

After despatch: see the returns section below.

Setup & install

🛠 For a full visual walkthrough with diagrams, see the Setup & Wiring Guide — in-tent layout, back-panel ports, 5-step install, compatibility table.

Do I need to be good with electronics?

No. The controller runs on 12V DC safe-touch voltage. No mains voltage is present on the board.

You connect fans, sensors and your 12V power supply via screw terminals — if you can wire a light switch, you can wire this. A printed quick-start guide comes in the box and there's a step-by-step setup video (link included with your despatch email).

How long does assembly take?

Most customers are up and reading sensor data in under an hour. Mounting the controller, plugging in the triple-sensor pod, wiring your fans, running the WiFi setup — that's the bulk of it. Stage presets load in a couple of clicks from there.

What 12V power supply should I use?

Any good-quality regulated 12V DC supply with a barrel jack or screw-terminal output:

Nexus: 12V, 3A minimum. Channel routers (Mini / Mid / Max) are powered separately — size each router’s supply to the fans and lights you wire to it.

Go for a reputable brand — Mean Well, Meanwell, RS Components. Avoid cheap unbranded bricks; they're the single most common cause of flaky sensor readings.

Does it need internet?

No. The dashboard is served by the controller itself on your local network. Once WiFi is set up, the controller works offline indefinitely — schedules run from its own clock, sensors read locally, decisions made locally.

The only outbound traffic is optional: firmware updates (when you click update) and BudMaster Mobile Control notifications (only if you enable it).

How do I control it from my phone?

Two ways, both included:

On your home network: open the dashboard in any browser at http://budmaster.local or the controller's IP (HTTP is correct here — .local addresses are LAN-only and never traverse the internet).

Away from home: BudMaster Mobile Control gives you alerts and full remote control. Configure in the dashboard under Settings → Mobile.

Does it integrate with Home Assistant?

Yes — the controller exposes an open REST API. Endpoints for every sensor reading, stage change, fan speed and alert state. Node-RED, Home Assistant, Grafana, Prometheus — anything that can speak HTTP can read and write to it.

A public API doc ships with your despatch email. No hidden endpoints, no rate limiting, no auth theatre — it's your controller on your network.

Safety & data
Is CO₂ dosing safe?

Nexus includes dual-safety CO₂ control — a software timeout and a separate, independent hardware safety circuit that shuts the valve off even if the main software ever freezes.

That said, CO₂ enrichment is still a real hazard and you are responsible for safe installation in a properly ventilated space. See Terms § 5 and the CO₂ safety brief included with every Nexus.

Is my data private?

Yes. Sensor readings, schedules, configuration — none of it leaves your network. We collect no telemetry, track no usage, and never see your data.

Order details (email, delivery address) are retained for fulfilment and warranty only. Payment is handled by Stripe; card details are never seen or stored by BudMaster Grow.

Warranty & returns
What's the warranty?

12 months manufacturer warranty from delivery, covering the PCB and pre-soldered components. This is on top of your statutory rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015.

Not covered: damage from incorrect wiring, reversed polarity, liquid, overvoltage, firmware modification, or damage caused by connected equipment. Full detail in Terms § 7.

A sensor arrived broken — what do I do?

Email hi@budmastergrow.com with your order number, a description of the fault and a photo. We respond with return instructions within 24 hours.

Sensors carry a 30-day fault-only return window: post it back well-packaged with a self-addressed stamped envelope (SAE). We test, and if it's faulty we post a replacement in your SAE. Full process in Terms § 8.

Can I return a controller I've changed my mind about?

Yes, within 14 days of delivery (UK Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013). Controller must be unused, unassembled and in original packaging. Return postage is at your expense. Refund goes back to the original payment method within 14 days of us receiving it.

How do I make a warranty claim?

Email hi@budmastergrow.com with:

• Your order number
• A description of the fault
• Photos where relevant

We respond within 24h with the return procedure. Faulty items are repaired or replaced at our discretion; if we can't resolve within 30 days of receiving the return we refund the purchase price.

Still stuck?

Fire an email over with as much detail as you can — photos of any wiring, the error message from the dashboard, or just a description of what's happening. I'll come back to you within 24h.
